SoundCloud Start A Royalty WAR With Spotify: NEW Streaming Payouts
SoundCloud has announced it's about to change up its royalty payment structure which could be massive news for independent artists. In an industry first, SoundCloud is moving away from pro-rata payments and introducing a new system titled "fan-powered royalties". In a nutshell, this means independent artists should get paid in a fairer way for their streams. Do you think Spotify will follow suit? What impact do you think this will have in the industry? Is this a step in the right direction or not enough? I'm Damian Keyes and I've worked with musicians every day of my life for the past 20 years. When I was 18, I was signed to a major label and at 23 I founded the world's largest set of music colleges, currently valued at $300m. As a bassist, I've played on stage for artists such as Eric Clapton, Alanis Morrisette and Billy Cobham. I also own a management company and live agency, undertaking over 10,000 gigs a year. On a fun side note, I've also previously broken two Guinness World Records (whilst at BIMM), one for the highest number of guitar pedals used in a sound and one for the largest guitar rig ever built! ------- Distributor Recommendations: ✅ Get 7% Off Distrokid - https://bit.ly/3jd1Ie5 ✅ Sign up for Ditto - https://bit.ly/2IP7jdX
