Save My Contact

My name is Assane, Senegalese-bornphotographer now based in Brooklyn. I dream about

photography...Memories of gazing through a finger-marked windowpane, camera at my side, the

trainrocking, objects passing, disparate perspectives through the lens. I thinkabout the diverse ways

inwhich photographs are interpreted. For me, photography is a spiritual act, aninner conviction, and

adesire to unleash the abstract essence of subjects beyond what is seen by thenaked eye. I'm

interestedin something which is built up from within, rather than just a superficialimage.

My first camera, a Nikon led to hourshunting bugs, flowers, and dolls. This progressed to

composingsubjects through angle and lighting, learning from experience, as I expressedmyself

visually. My passion has now evolved with the use of analog cameras (Pentax k1000, andMamiya

m645).The film composition matches my character through the vintage color grading, the texture,

andthe blur. I am continuously inspired by the smallest and simplest of objects, Ilove playing

aroundwith light to create different images and moods. I like how a photograph, unlike the other

visualarts, is eternally bound to reality more profoundly. I am fascinated with theconcept of the

real, and how people perceive objects and reality. This has been intensified throughmy A-level

subjectchoices.

Despite my passion for photography, Iinitially saw it best to pursue a computer science course,

seeingphotography simply as a hobby. However, I studied photography on an advancedlevel, which

hasenabled me to develop an independent and self-motivated practice. I haveenjoyed discovering

themany genres of photography, specifically fine art, portraits, still life, street, and documentary

photography.I find the work of photographers old and new highly inspirational.

I have done two solo-exhibitions inBrooklyn, NY. Both took place in 2020. First one hosted

byICP (International Center of Photography), who chose my work for a project regardingthe impact

ofcovid-19. I released my first book shortly after. Tilted "I am Black",this project conveyed the

innateand historical notion of the beauty in the Black experience. The mission is tobe well-versed

studentas it concerns the realm of visual arts. I look forward to the challenges offurther study in

photography, enabling me to attain the status of a master of his passion. To empty mythoughts and

emotionsand pour into my visual creations.

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
